Welcome to the official website for the Longest Day, Longest Ride
So what is the Longest Day, Longest Ride?Exactly that, it is a 24 hour endurance mountain bike event held at Conrhenny Plantation here on the Isle of Man. The event tries to run around the weekend of the Summer Solstice (longest day). The 2012 event dates are confirmed as Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th June 2012.
The format of the event is simple, ride for as long as you possibly can clocking up the most number of laps of the course and we've tried not to make too many Rules & Regulations. Unlike most 24 hour events held in the UK and other parts of the world, due to the size of the venue the course itself is relatively short, approximately 5km in length. Don't let this short course put you off though as it offers a variety of riding from forest roads to sweeping singletrack and boardwalks through the trees; add to that the fact you will be riding through the night and feeling fatigued, no two laps will be the same.
From ‘weekend warriors’ to recreational riders and cross-country racing snakes, the Longest Day, Longest Ride will test physical fitness, stamina and mental toughness on a technical, but achievable route. The event is open to solo riders and teams alike. All riders will be issued with a timing chip which must be secured to your shoe in order to count your laps. The emphasis with all Loaghtan Loaded events, is firmly on participation enjoyment and fun for all involved, whether riders, family members, spectators or support crew and we would like to thank everyone concerned with the event for their help and support. The organisers would like to draw everyone's attention to the event Rules & Regulations which are very important and everyone is encouraged to read.
