Do I have to ride for 24 hours?
No! The only requirement is that you complete at least one lap of the course within the 24 hour period.
How hard is the event?
The event is, without a doubt, going to ‘challenge you’ regardless of your fitness level. Expect highs as well as lows, especially if you intend to ride for the duration; but the important thing to remember is that you only have to do what you feel able to do.
I’m planning on coming over to ride the event. How do I get there?
We would recommend coming at least two days before the event as our sign-on is held the evening before. Travel is predominantly by boat, from Liverpool or Heysham, operated by the Isle of Man Steam Packet. There are a number of accommodation options available only a short distance from the event venue.*
*Island COVID-19 border restrictions permitting. See current IOM border restrictions
Will there be food available during the event?
Yes, the event is renowned for its delicious home-made food options courtesy of St Thomas’ WI. There will also be a hot food van on site serving the usual sausage and bacon baps, chips and other hot food specials. More details on this will be announced nearer the time.
Do I need support?
It is always advisable to have some form of support crew, often referred to as ‘pit bitches’, especially if you intend to ride for the duration. It is amazing how having someone to feed you and give you info on where you are in the event can help you dig deep.
Do you offer support?
We have a limited number of trackside ‘serviced pit areas’ available to hire, these are covered 3m x 3m portals and come with power, light, table and chairs.
I’m entering as part of a team, what are the requirements?
The event is open to Solo, Pairs and Quads (team of 4). Pairs and Quads ride in relay, it is down to you how many laps each rider does before handing over the ‘baton’. Only one rider per Pair or Team permitted to be on the course at any one time.
How do you count my laps?
We use state of the art timing equipment supplied and operated by Manx Timing Solutions. Each rider is issued with an individual race number which contains the timing chip (multiple numbers can be purchased for additional bikes). There are a number of remote timing points strategically placed around the course to record your passing. Our results software is capable of providing you with a total team lap count and time as well as individual lap count and times.
Is the course fully way marked?
Yes, the course is well marked out with barrier tape, directional arrows and barriers to stop you going the wrong way.
Are there Marshals?
Each rider is designated as a travelling marshal and is required to report any incidents to any of the race officials and assist if necessary. Owing to the size of the venue there will be no dedicated marshal stations around the course.
Do I require lights?
Yes, at night, you must have a red rear steady light, a white front light minimum 5W halogen equivalent. You will be advised during the race briefing what time you must have lights fitted and when they must be switched on.
What facilities are available at the venue?
There are limited facilities on-site. There will be port-a-loos on site for the duration of the event and we have the use of the farm fields opposite the venue for camping and parking. There is strictly no campfires or ground-based BBQs permitted for safety reasons.
