ENTRIES OPEN FOR 2015 CONISTER BANK LONGEST DAY LONGEST RIDE 24 HOUR MOUNTAIN BIKE CHALLENGE
One of the Isle of Man’s most gruelling sporting events returns to the calendar for 2015, with the 6th running of the Conister Bank Longest Day Longest Ride 24 Hour Mountain Bike Challenge.
Organised by the highly efficient Loaghtan Loaded Mountain Bike Club, the Longest Day Longest Ride will once again take place in the idyllic Conrhenny Plantation six miles from the centre of the Island’s capital, Douglas.
Riders will complete as many laps as they can of the challenging 3 mile circuit in 24 hours over the weekend of the 27th and 28th of June 2015. The event is open to riders of all abilities and includes classes for solo riders, pairs and teams.
The Longest Day Longest Ride is one of the most sociable sporting occasions on the Isle of Man sporting calendar and welcomes spectators and supporters to the family friendly venue to experience an event with a unique festival like atmosphere.
The event HQ at Conrhenny is equipped with hot and cold refreshments for competitors and spectators, toilet facilities and a large on site campsite allowing weary riders to grab a few hours sleep in between riding stints.
The Longest Day Longest Ride offers a great opportunity for charity fund raising with over £25,000 being raised for local charities by competitors in the event to date.
Speaking on the day entries open for the Longest Day Longest Ride, Gary Cooper of the organising Loaghtan Loaded Mountain Bike Club commented:
“The Conister Bank Longest Day Longest Ride continues to go from strength to strength. Last year we had a record 199 competitor entries and given the positive feedback we have had since last years event, we expect that figure to grow further in 2015. We couldn’t put an event of this size on now without the contribution from companies like Conister Bank and all our other associate sponsors and on behalf of the Loaghtan Loaded Mountain Bike Club I would like to thank them for the ongoing support.”
Andy Bass, Business Development Manager at Conister Bank commented:
“We really enjoyed our first experience of sponsoring the Conister Bank Longest Day Longest Ride in 2014 and we are very excited about the 2015 event where we will look to increase our involvement on the weekend of the event itself. It’s a fantastic example of a good Isle of Man event with superb organisation by the Loaghtan Loaded Mountain Bike Club and fabulously laid back and welcoming atmosphere around the whole weekend.”
